Five films applied, and the candidate was chosen by the five member expert commission of the DSFU. The decision was announced by DSFU chairman Igor Korsic.
Rooster's Breakfast, based on the novel by the writer Feri Lainscek, was the biggest Slovenian box office hit of 2007. According to its distributor, the Ljubljanski kinematografi, it was seen by 182,968 viewers.
At the national festival in Portoroz the film received awards for direction and script (Marko Nabersnik), leading male role (Vlado Novak), and the audience award as best film, while Pia Zemljic received the Stop Magazine Award for Best Actress of the Year.
