{mosimage}Alper is seen as the most important figure of the new generation of Turkish directors. His first film Autumn (2008) has received some 30 awards, including prizes from the Locarno, Sofia and Antalya film festivals. In that film, he created a story from the point of view a political prisoner situated on Black Sea coast. Now he sets his film in the East Anatolia.
Alper once again works with a cast of unknown actors and has a story about the post-graduate thesis of a woman. The film was shot in eight weeks. It received support from Eurimages, the Turkish Culture Ministry, CNC (France) and NRW (Germany).
{mosimage}At the premiere of the film in the Toronto Film Festival Alper said, ‘Turkey had a lot of political problems in its history and none of it is solved. Now I am into the Kurdish problem and I don't think that it will be solved either.'
The film is co-produced by Alper's own company Nar Film (www.narfilm.com), French company Arizona Films (www.arizonafilms.net) and German company Una Film (www.unafilm.de).
