The film, which started an eight week shoot at the end of June is titled Black and White (Siyah Beyaz) and is an all Turkish coproduction with Ankara based Gezici Film and Akman Film and Istanbul based Fono Film (www.fonofilm.com.tr)
Boyacioglu who is well known on the international fest circuit directed two shorts in 2001 but this is the 56 year old director's first feature film. He also wrote the script and is coproducing the film together with Ali Akman. The lineup includes the top names in Turkish film with stars Tuncel Kurtiz, Nejat İşler and Derya Alabora and world class DoP Özgür Eken who lensed fest circuit hit Milk directed by Semih Kaplanoğlu.
"The film is about friendship and getting older," said Boyacioglu, "The action takes place in a bar in Ankara where artists and intellectuals gather. It's a real meeting place, a community, not just a bar. It's based on a real bar called Black and White that recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and I just thought this would make a good story for a film."
The film is due out in 2010 with the Boyacioglu connection its sure to attract the attention of international fest programmers as well.
