Hungarian director Endre Hules's The Maiden Danced to Death is slated to begin principal photography in early 2011 backed by 160 000 Euros from Eurimages. Grants for 2010 from Hungary's Motion Picture Foundation have not been announced yet. Coproducer are neighbouring Casablanca from Slovenia.
Also Poland's Applefilm (www.applefilm.pl) will coproduce La Terre Outragee to be directed by Michale Boganim. The project received 1.5m pln from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) as well as 500 000 Euros from Eurimages. Le Pacte International picked up the film which is currently in pre-production. The film which is set in a small town near Chernobyl follows a group of characters just before the disaster. Applefilm has experience working in the CIS on other feature projects.
