SOFA – SCHOOL OF FILM AGENTS 2016

International industry experts provide workshop participants with creative support for their film-oriented cultural projects

    ****

For the fourth time SOFA – School of Film Agents offers a group of young cultural managers and film agents the opportunity to develop their projects for film infrastructure under the guidance of experts. Following SOFA director Nikolaj Nikitin's invitation to the European Capital of Culture 2016 in Wrocław, Poland, a team of internationally renowned industry professionals will provide the participants with the necessary input for a practical development of their project ideas. The ten-day workshop will also stimulate an exchange about transnational communication, handling human resources, cultural agency and research into private and public possibilities of financing in each of their home nation's creative industries.

SOFA – School of Film Agents is a workshop program aimed at strengthening the national film industries and the European cinematic landscape and kickstart projects in this realm. SOFA helps its participants to further develop their ideas towards concrete projects in a way that opens up avenues towards application for financing programs and finally towards the projects' implementation. Setting the focus on cultural managers and film agents instead of on producers and directors is making SOFA a unique program in the international film scene.

SOFA – School of Film Agents is a joint venture of the Filmplus gUG (Cologne) and the Fundacja Filmplus (Warsaw), together with the city of Wrocław and the Polish Film Institute; support comes from the German Federal Foreign Office, the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, the Goethe-Institut Central and Eastern Europe, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, as well as the Film Commission Poland and the Wroclaw Film Commission as well as by EAVE – European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs.
