According to the SARFT Vice Minister, "Despite the global economic crisis, China's economy remains relatively vibrant. Our major aim in attending MIPTV is to develop television programme exchanges and co-operation with other countries, to promote mutual understanding and friendship between China and the world."
Paul Johnson, Director of the Television Division at Reed MIDEM, added, "One of the most dynamic countries in the world, China is the largest global market for both television and broadband access. The 'Focus on China' events led by SARFT will explore the mutual benefits of trade between the international and Chinese markets."
The Chinese government has significantly developed the TV drama, documentary and animation sectors in recent years. SARFT will use MIPTV to encourage international players to embark on more and wider factual co-productions with Chinese organizations at a dedicated seminar on 'Cooperation between China and Other Countries in Television Programmes.'
In addition, the China United Pavilion at MIPTV brings together China International TV Corp, CTV Media, Hunan Satellite TV, Hangzhou International Animation Festival, Capital Radio & TV Producers Association, Zhejiang Huace Film and TV and other leading industry players to showcase new productions, including documentary "Dun Huang - Pearl on the Silk Road," TV drama "The Legend of Bruce Lee" and animation series "The Monkey King."
The 46th MIPTV entertainment content market will take place in Cannes from 30 March to 3 April 2009.
