RIGA: The Latvian director Yevgeny Pashkevich has completed work on his third feature length film What Silent Gerda Knows, which will premiere in the main competition at the Riga International Film Festival, running 15 - 25 October 2020.

BUCHAREST: The eight-episode TV series RUXX, directed by Iulia Rugină and Octav Gheorghe, and produced by HBO Europe, has started shooting in Romania. Cristian Mungiu and Tudor Reu are providing production services through Mobra Films.

BUDAPEST: Hungarian indie production company Joyrider and Serbian production house Firefly are coproducing Frust, an offbeat comedy/drama series.

SOFIA: The Bulgarian-born Canadian animator Theodore Ushev started the shooting of his first feature film, a dark dystopia based on Vladislav Todorov’s novel The Spinning Top. The actual film title φ1.618 refers to the Golden Ratio.

BUDAPEST: Hungarian director Kata Dobó is currently in production with Stop My Stepmom! / El a kezekkel a papámtól!, the first grandiose family musical film in Hungary for decades. The producer is Megafilm and the release is set for 2 December 2021.

BELGRADE: The production of the Serbian romantic melodrama Once Upon a Time in Serbia / Bilo jednom u Srbiji started in the Serbian town of Leskovac on 3 September 2020. The film, supported by Film Center Serbia, is the sophomore feature of Petar Ristovski, who helmed the 2018 cinema hit King Petar / Kralj Petar Prvi.

VILNIUS: Austėja Urbaitė has completed shooting on her debut feature film Family / Šeima, which is produced by the Lithuanian production company Fralita Films, under producer  Živilė Gallego.

SOFIA: Dimitar Petkov is completing the post-production of his third feature film The Short Straw, a period drama set 40 years ago, putting the head of a provincial police office and his subordinate officers in a fierce struggle against each other.

KALISZ: The shooting is underway for Wolka, a new crime drama from Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson, coproduced by Iceland and Poland. The crew moved from Westman Islands to Kalisz, Poland, on 5 September 2020.

BUDAPEST: The first episode of the five-episode film The Quarantine Zone directed by Dániel Indi Zsótér began filming on 7 September 2020. The low-budget film, which is independently produced by the creative team, has also launched a fund-raising campaign to collect 1,665 EUR by 28 September.

BRATISLAVA: Juraj Lehotský is starting production of his third feature drama Applause / Potlesk.

BUDAPEST: Ádám Császi is currently shooting his sophomore feature Three Thousand Numbered Pieces / Háromezer számozott darab, a mix of fiction, absurdity and sociographic reality, aiming at answering if it is possible to talk about the topic of race without racism.

SOFIA: Konstantin Burov is in the final stage of the post-production of his second feature film Goodbye, Johnny. The film was screened during the online edition of the 17th Sofia Meetings’ Works in Progress.

BELGRADE: Serbian action thriller South Wind 2 / Južni vetar 2 directed by Miloš Avramović and supported by Film Center Serbia, started shooting on 17 August 2020.

VILNIUS. The Swedish production company Nice Drama, in coproduction with UK-based Twelve Town and with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond, are shooting the eight-part action thriller With One Eye Open / Neprarask budrumo in Lithuania.

WARSAW: Polish director Bartosz Prokopowicz has started postproduction on his new project, the romantic comedy Happiness Comes in Pairs / Szczęścia chodzą parami. The director is best known for his drama Chemo produced by Filmokracja in 2015  which achieved international recognition.
