TBILISI: Dato Kiknavelidze is currently in development with Geno, the first Georgian long animated film. A 13 minutes short pilot of the film became the first Georgian animated film selected for the 2017 Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market (MIFA) Competition programme.

VILNIUS: The prominent Lithuanian documentarian Audrius Stonys is in production with Baltic New Wave, working together with Latvian director Kristine Briede. Their new film about Baltic documentary filmmakers from the Soviet times was chosen as one of the winners at Meeting Point - Vilnius industry screenings. It will be shown at Cannes industry screenings this May.

BRATISLAVA: Acclaimed Slovak director Martin Šulík is shooting his new feature The Interpreter / Tlmočník. It is his first feature film after a long break following Gypsy / Cigán (produced by Titanic, In Film, and coproduced by Czech Television, RTVS) in 2011. The road movie will star Oscar-winning director Jiří Menzel and Toni Erdmann actor Peter Simonischek.

BUCHAREST: Warner Brothers will shoot The Nun, a spin-off of its 2016 film The Conjuring 2, entirely at the Romania’s Castel Film Studios starting 3 May 2017. The Nun, directed by Corin Hardy, is produced by New Line and distributed by Warner Bros.

His previous film Two Lottery Tickets / Două lozuri, an independent comedy produced by Actoriedefilm.ro on a budget of approximately 30,000 EUR, became the domestic film with the best box office (540,000 EUR / 2,403,355 RON) in 2016.

BRATISLAVA: Director Mariana Čengel Solčanská starts developing The Maidservant / Slúžka, a strong feminist story placed in Vienna during WWI. Based on Hana Lasicová’s bestseller published in 2013, The Maidservant will be the first Slovak film ever to deal with female homosexuality.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravičius is currently shooting his debut feature, the psychological drama Stasis, which is a coproduction between Lithuania, the Ukraine and France. Shooting takes place in the Ukraine, Greece, Turkey and Lithuania.
