BUCHAREST: Anca Damian is in preproduction with a new long animated film, The Extraordinary Voyage of Marona / Extraordinara calatorie a Maronei, which is a coproduction between Romania, France and Belgium.

ZAGREB: The Dutch/Belgian/Croatian film Rafael by Ben Sombogaart began a 30-day shoot on locations in Croatia on 30 September 2017

VILNIUS: The German production company Ufa Fiction (producers Benjamin Benedict, Nico Hofmann and Martin Bromber) and local service producer Ramūnas Škikas (production company Ahil) are shooting the TV drama Kruso in Lithuania for public broadcasters MDR and ARD Degeto with backing from MDM Mitteldeutsche Medien-Förderung and the Lithuanian Film Centre.

BELGRADE: Dragan Marinković is currently in postproduction with Leeches / Pijavice, his fifth feature film and his fourth collaboration with the actor Lazar Ristovski. The film is a Serbian/Croatian/Macedonian coproduction supported by Film Center Serbia.

WARSAW: Polish director Viktoria Marinov is in preparation with Love Land, a long documentary about people who decide to emigrate to Bulgaria out of love. The producers are looking for Bulgarian coproducers.

WARSAW: Indian TV series Bose. Dead / Alive directed by Pulkit and starring Rajkummar Rao was shot in the Malopolska province with Film Polska Productions servicing. The Polish locations stood in for Germany, Austria and Manchuria.

BELGRADE: Writer/director Predrag Antonijević returns to Serbian cinema after 27 years with Soldier’s Lullaby / Zaspanka za vojnike, a WWI drama he is currently shooting in Serbia. The film is an adaptation of Stevan Jakovljević’s classical realistic novel Srpska trilogija / Serbian Trilogy, written almost 100 years ago.

RIGA: Michael Idov’s debut feature The Humorist started shooting in Jurmala, Latvia. The film is a coproduction between Russia, Latvia and the Czech Republic, and is set to be finished by summer 2018.

BUCHAREST: Romanian writer/director/producer Tudor Giurgiu will start shooting his fourth feature film Above Man, the Woman Soars / Apropierea / Sin Aliento in Spain on 19 October 2017. This Romanian/Spanish/Czech coproduction is the first film shot by Giurgiu as a director abroad.

PRAGUE: Jiří Vejdělek, the director of domestic hits Women in Temptation / Ženy v pokušení and Holiday Makers / Účastnící zájezdu (both produced by Infinity Prague) is currently shooting a new film Dad´s Volha / Tátova Volha with the same production company.

SOFIA: Bulgarian film director Lyubomir Mladenov is completing postproduction of his second feature film Ship in a Room. It is another title from the group of successful films shot mainly by younger film directors after the Bulgarian National Film Center introduced its low-budget format in 2014.

WARSAW: Netflix commissioned the first locally produced series in Poland, directed by Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik. The title of the series has not been revealed yet. The international premiere is planned for 2018.

BELGRADE: Maša Nešković’s debut feature Asymmetry – Three Teritories / Asimetrija – Tri teritorije is currently shooting in Serbia. It is one of the new Serbian films recently supported by Film Center Serbia.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Ignas Jonynas is currently shooting his new feature film Invisible / Nematoma. The shooting of this Lithuanian/Ukrainian/Latvian coproduction started on 4 September 2017 and is scheduled to wrap on 20 October 2017. The film is shot in both Lithuania and the Ukraine.

ESTONIA: The Spanish/Estonian coproduction Constructing Albert, directed by Laura Collado and Jim Loomis, is in the final stages of postproduction and preparing for its world premiere in the Culinary Zinema: Film and Gastronomy section of the 65th San Sebastian International Film Festival.

SOFIA: Acclaimed Bulgarian theatre director Galin Stoev is about to complete the postproduction of his debut feature The Infinite Garden. Shot in Bulgaria and Italy, this poetic love story is expected to become the first Bulgarian urban romance to combine sad elegance with a refined aesthetic style.
