BUCHAREST: The second feature of Florin Şerban (If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle) starts shooting on 12 August. 

WARSAW: The director of Mundial. The Highest Stakes is taking on the world of male volleyball in The Team.

The team behind crowdfunding pioneer Iron Sky has announced they have raised more than 139,000 EUR via the same source, using IndieGoGo, to develop Moon Nazi sequel Iron Sky II – The Coming Race, scheduled to start production in early 2015.

BUCHAREST: Acclaimed Romanian New Wave writer/director Cristi Puiu, has announced a shoot date of November 1for Sierra-Nevada, a feature about a family reunion.

SOFIA: Ivan Nichev has started production on the Bulgarian-Israeli coproduction Concert for the Survivals at Nu Boyana Film Studios (www.nuboyana.com) where the production has planned 12 shooting days 

BUDAPEST: György Pálfi (Taxidermia, Hukkle) has moved into the final stages of preproduction for a September 2013 start date on the mega-production Toldi.

BRATISLAVA:  Seven Ravens, a Czech-Slovak coproduction based on a classic fairy tale by Pavol Dobšinský, will start to shoot in July and August 2013 in western Slovakia. 

WARSAW: HBO commission 35 episodes of the Polish version of the hit title.

BUCHAREST: Writer/director Dan Chişu started shooting Bucharest Non-Stop, his fifth feature, on 17 June 2013.

BUCHAREST: Anca Damian's new feature A Very Unsettled Summer, a Romanian-Czech-Swedish-Scottish coproduction, is in postproduction with the premiere set for autumn 2013.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian production company Fralita Films is in preproduction with the feature film Sangaile directed by Alante Kavaite.

NICOSIA: Writer/director Yeliz Shukri is investigating the fate of thousands of Turkish-Cypriot girls sold into marriage between 1920 and 1940 through the story of one of them. 

BUCHAREST: Nae Caranfil, whose first English speaking feature Closer to the Moon starring Vera Farmiga and Mark Strong is still in postproduction, is developing 6.9 on Richter/6,9 pe scara Richter, a comedy with a musical touch. 

BUCHAREST: Romanian producer/writer/director Anca Damian has begun production on the animated documentary The Magic Mountain, the second part of her Death (and Life) Trilogy which started with the 2011 award winning Crulic - The Path to Beyond/Crulic - Drumul spre dincolo.

ZAGREB: Finnish writer/director Arto Halonen (Princess, Pavlov’s Dogs) is in postproduction with the first Finnish-Croatian coproduction, a comedy about the doping-phenomenon notable for the casting of Canadian Olympic athlete Ben Johnson, who relinquished his gold medal when he tested positive for doping, in a minor role.

WARSAW: Polish producer Opus Film may join the international coproduction of the drama The Cut by German director Fatih Akin.  Opus Film was also a coproducer on the sci-fi film The Congress directed by Ari Folman which premiered at the 66th Cannes IFF.
