FNE at Cannes 2023: Lost Country by Vladimir Perišić Selected for Cannes’ Critics’ Week
Serbia 18-04-2023BELGRADE: The sophomore feature by Serbian director Vladimir Perišić has been selected for the 62nd edition of Critics’ Week (Semaine de la Critique), one of the sidebar sections of the Cannes Film Festival. This coproduction between France, Serbia, Luxembourg and Croatia stars Quo Vadis, Aida?'s Jasna Đuričić. Croatian/Spanish short film The Real Truth about the Fight by Andrea Slaviček was also selected for Critics’ Week.
FNE at Cannes 2023: Jonathan Glazer’s Polish Minority Coproduction The Zone of Interest Selected for Cannes 2023 Competition
Poland 14-04-2023WARSAW: The Holocaust drama The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer has been selected for the Competition of the 76th edition of Festival de Cannes (16 – 27 May 2023). The film is a coproduction between the UK, Poland and the USA, coproduced in Poland by Ewa Puszczynska through Extreme Emotions.
PRAGUE/BRATISLAVA: With the passing of Juraj Jakubisko we mourn not only the loss of one of the greatest living artists in Europe, but the passing of an era. Juraj Jakubisko was the last of a generation of filmmakers from the region that were giants in a time of political and artistic change.
BERLIN: The French/Japanese documentary On the Adamant by Nicolas Phillibert received the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 73rd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, held 16 – 26 February 2023.

REYKJAVIK: Lithuanian majority coproduction Mariupolis 2 by Mantas Kvedaravičius won European Documentary, while Slovenian majority coproduction Granny’s Sexual Life by Urška Djukić and Émilie Pigeard won Short European Film at the 35th edition of the European Film Awards, held in Reykjavik on 10 December 2022.
PARIS: The Czech Kino Pilotu took the top prize for Best Programming at the 2022 Europa Cinemas Awards, which were presented in Paris during an awards ceremony at the Cinéma le Balzac. The Prague cinema is managed by Jan Macola and Alzbeta Macolova. The Entrepreneur of the Year award went to Alexander Vandeputte and Jan De Clercq of the Lumière Cinemas, Belgium.
TALLINN: Eight awards were handed out to film projects in different stages of scriptwriting, development or postproduction at the 21st Baltic Event Co-Production Market 2022, which took place within the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (11 – 27 November 2022).
