ZAGREB: The World Festival of Animated Film - Animafest Zagreb 2022 will take place in Croatia from 6 to 11 June 2022. Animafest is widely considered to be the second oldest festival in the world dedicated entirely to animation, and it celebrates its 50th birthday this year.
ZAGREB: The first edition of the Cherry Pop Film Festival, a new festival dedicated to exploring topics of sexuality in all its forms and manifestations, will take place 2-4 June in Zagreb, as well as on the on-demand vimeo channel of the Festival.
PULA: The second season of the CBS series FBI International is currently being filmed in Pula, with Embassy films servicing.
ZAGREB: The amount spent by international productions filming in Croatia was 25.8 m EUR / 195.8 m HRK in 2021, with 16 international projects spending a total of 416 days in the country. This is seen as a big recovery after the troublesome COVID-19 year 2020, when nine projects shot for 161 days and spent only 11.9 m EUR / 90 m HRK in the country.
ZAGREB: Pavo Marinković has wrapped filming on his new feature film Vampires of Miljacka / Bosanski lonac, produced by Croatia’s Telefilm in coproduction with Austria’s Nanook Film, and in collaboration with the Oktavijan Theater from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Film Association from Mostar.
ZAGREB: The 31st edition of the Croatian Film Days / Dani hrvatskog filma will screen 73 films, which have been selected from among 179 applicants. The most comprehensive overview of short and mid-length film production in Croatia will take place at the Tuškanac cinema in Zagreb 10-14 May 2022.
ZAGREB: The third season of Netflix's series The Witcher spent one shooting day in Croatia during the last weekend, after an initial shooting in the Italian province of Bolzano and four days in Slovenia. The Croatian Audiovisual Centre secured 25% cash rebate through its programme Filming in Croatia, in collaboration with Croatian tax authorities.
ZAGREB: The TV series The Silence / Šutnja directed by Dalibor Matanić has been sold by Beta Film to HBO Europe for Central and Eastern Europe, as well as to Lumière for the Flemish Benelux.
ZAGREB: The new network of Croatian cinemas Kino Magistrala brings together the Kino Mediteran chain of open-air cinemas, Art-kino Croatia in Rijeka, Kinoteka Zlatna vrata in Split and Kinematografi Dubrovnik, effectively covering the entire coastal region of Croatia.
ZAGREB: Croatian writer/director Igor Mirković has entered postproduction with his new feature drama Sweet Simona / Slatka Simona, produced by Ivan Maloča and his company Interfilm.
