ZAGREB: Croatian director Igor Bezinović is preparing the feature-length creative documentary-hybrid Fiume o morte!, produced by Restart (Croatia) and coproduced by Videomante (Italy) and Slovenia’s Nosorogi. The film received funding in the December 2021 round of Eurimages.

ZAGREB: Film tourism related to the mega-popular HBO series Game of Thrones, which started shooting in Dubrovnik, Split and elsewhere in the Dalmatia region exactly ten years ago, brought a total revenue of 180.7 million euros to the Croatian economy from 2013 to 2018.

ZAGREB: The shooting of the debut feature film The Head of a Big Fish by screenwriter and director Arsen Oremović, produced by Maja Vukić and her company Izazov 365, started on 19 November 2021 in the Dubrovčak Desni municipality in Croatia. The crew has now moved to Zagreb, where the filming will last until 15 December.

ZAGREB: Croatia has seen the launch of two VOD platforms, one from Croatia and one from Russia. Croatian distribution company Discovery film has launched its new VOD platform MovieMix, offering a wide range of independent and classic films.

ZAGREB: Film producer and co-founder of the Croatian production company Studio DIM Darija Kulenović Gudan passed away at the age of 49 in Zagreb. She had been ill for several years.

ZAGREB: The Golden Pram for best feature film went to the Austrian/German film Great Freedom by Sebastian Meise at the closing ceremony of the Zagreb Film Festival on 20 November 2021.

ZAGREB: Filming on the Croatian/Macedonian/Kosovan coproduction Escort directed by Lukas Nola and produced by Kinorama began in Croatia in mid-October 2021. The film is being shot at several locations in Zagreb and its surroundings, as well as in Zagorje, Gorski Kotar, Mošćenička Draga and Opatija.

ZAGREB: Goran Kulenović has started filming his feature film The Death of the Little Match Girl on the Croatian island of Rab, after a year of COVID-related delays. The adaptation comes 18 years after the publication of the multi-awarded novel of the same name, written by award-winning Croatian novelist Zoran Ferić.

ZAGREB: The 19th Zagreb Film Festival will take place 14 - 21 November 2021 in Cinema SC, Tuškanac Cinema, &TD Theatre, Urania hub and HUB 385, as well as on online platforms kinoeuropa.hr i croatian.film, featuring 134 film titles divided into five competition programmes, four side programmes, KinoKino festival for children, and Industry, a programme aimed at educating and connecting film professionals.

ZAGREB: Croatia is a partner of the Doclisboa International Documentary Film Festival 2021, which is hosting a series of screenings and presentations of Croatian films from 21 to 31 October 2021.
