ZAGREB: The Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) will provide 660,000 EUR / 5 m HRK in additional support for the production of feature films to help productions affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds will be earmarked for the most vulnerable categories of previously co-financed projects that were unable to complete production.

ZAGREB: The Croatian Institute for Public Finance and Olsberg SPI consultancy will present the results of their feasibility study on a project of a new film studio complex in Croatia in an online panel today (29 October 2020) at 11:30 CET. The study was commissioned by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre after a long debate on the potential to build an international film studio near Zagreb, a possibility that was formally announced last year at the Pula Film Festival.

ZAGREB: The Zagreb Film Festival will hold its 18th edition entirely online, on the platforms kinoeuropa.hr and croatian.film. The festival becomes the latest in a series of autumn festivals to take the decision in light of the constant increase of the number of newly infected with coronavirus and the goal of preserving the health of the audience and the festival team.

ZAGREB: The 100-day shoot of the fourth season of Black & White World / Crno-bijeli svijet, the Croatian period drama with elements of comedy, has wrapped filming. The TV series is produced by Interfilm for the Croatian National Television. Written and directed by Goran Kulenović and Igor Mirković, it follows the stories of different generations of citizens of Zagreb in the 1980s, marked by the blooming rock music scene under the communist regime.

ZAGREB: The 30th World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest 2020, the biggest Croatian film festival and a leading animation festival worldwide, gave its top prize to Just a Guy directed by Shoko Hara, at the closing ceremony in Kino SC in Zagreb.

DUBROVNIK: Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal lead the cast of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, a humorous meta-comedy directed by Tom Gormican, that’s currently being filmed in the luxurious Hotel Argentina in Dubrovnik.

ZAGREB: Croatian helmer Dalibor Matanić started filming his new TV series The Last Socialist Artefact / Područje bez signala, based on the book of the famous Croatian writer Robert Perišić. The series is developed and produced by Ankica Jurić Tilić and her company Kinorama in coproduction with Sense Production (RS), Perfo Production (SI) and Citizen Jane (FI). Matanić has recently completed his 3-season TV series The Paper / Novine, which has been sold to Netflix.

DUBROVNIK: The USA/Croatian sci-fi adventure film The Islander 2, written and directed by Zoran Lisinac and Domagoj Mazuran, has completed filming in Dubrovnik. The shoot came after months of stagnation for many Croatian film professionals.

PULA: The feminist drama Tereza37 directed by Danilo Šerbedžija was the big winner at the 2020 Pula Film Festival, bringing a total of six Golden Arenas to its creators.
