BUDAPEST: Golden Bear-winner Ildikó Enyedi starts shooting the pilot episode of the TV series Angel’s Trumpets / Angyaltrombiták at the end of June 2022. The bloody and humorous revenge story was written by young Katalin Besenyei, who pitched it at the Hypewriter TV Series Pitch Forum in 2021 to a jury having Enyedi among its members. The project was awarded and Enyedi eventually boarded the project.
BUDAPEST: The National Film Institute – Hungary has distributed 293,513 EUR / 117.4 m HUF for the production of five documentaries and two animated series.
BUDAPEST: Hajni Kis's first feature Wild Roots / Külön falka was chosen as the best feature film and won in two more categories at the Hungarian Film Awards, which were handed out on the closing day of the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival (9-12 June 2022). The most prizes, a total of five, were swept by The Story of My Wife / A feleségem története by Ildikó Enyedi, including the award for best director.

Director Balázs Lóth is the biggest winner from the list of 17 feature films (including four international coproductions) as his historical adventure film Now or Never! / Most vagy soha received a record-high production grant of 12.1m EUR / 4.7 billion HUF.

Hungary 13-05-2022BUDAPEST: The Polish/Hungarian coproduction Budapest Diaries / Budapesti napló by Rafael Kapelinski wrapped shooting in Budapest on 9 May 2022. The historical drama is set in 1981, when the political and economical crisis worsened in Poland, and many people travelled to Hungary where the repressions were less strict.
BUDAPEST: The production of Áron Gauder’s Minden a rokonom is approaching completion. “The animation is 95 percent complete, with five minutes left in the 100-minute film. The last phase of the work process, compositing, is halfway through, and we will be done with it by the end of 2022”, producer Réka Temple told FNE.
BUDAPEST: The 2nd edition of the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival will screen nearly 100 films from 9 to 12 June 2022. The festival is organised by the National Film Institute – Hungary and the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 – European Capital of Culture programme. At the end of the event, the Hungarian Film Academy will present the Hungarian Motion Picture Awards.
