WROCLAW: First details of how the new EU programme will work were outlined to a panel of European film professionals by Susanne Ding, a European Commission offical for Creative Europe.
WARSAW: The director of comedy Being Like Deyna is prepping her first feature drama, All the Animals with You, based on a book of the same title by a Serbian author Boba Blagojević.
WROCLAW: A festival box office database, an interactive cinema programming system and a short film incubator are just a few of innovative projects developed at the first edition of the School of Film Agents.
WARSAW: Director Åse Svenheim Drivenes is shooting Around My Family Table, focused on the lives of children whose parents were forced to leave and work abroad.
CRACOW: Marcin Krzyształowicz has launched the shoot for his new project, Kindergarten Lady (Pani z przedszkola), described as a Woody Allen-inspired tragicomedy about love and psychoanalysis with an intellectual tone. Lensing began 27 September.
WARSAW: Diplodocus, an animated film based on a legendary Polish comic, has won an 80,000 EUR development grant from Media.
TALLINN: Katrin Maimik’s coming-of-age debut film Cherry Tobacco (Kirsitubakas), written by Andres Maimik, is shooting in Estonian locations through October. It builds on the latter's previous hit comedy Kormoranid. Tobacco is produced by Kuukulgur Film, which previously released Daisy Petal Game II (Karikakramäng II), a shorts omnibus including films by the duo.
PRAGUE: Armed with no end of ironic analysis, director Hana Novakova takes on modern Czech politics with the help of the south Bohemian bark beetle and several offbeat personalities in some way connected to it in her documentary An Artist Under the Bark of Our National Amusement Park, scheduled for release in October.
PRAGUE: The guiding force at Central European Media Enterprises, the Ron Lauder and Time Warner-owned TV network leading the regional market, is shifting with the resignation of CEO Adrian Sarbu, the company has announced. How the change will affect stations such as Prague's TV Nova and Romania's ProTV is not yet clear.
