Pula Film Festival Prize Winners

    PULA: The 58th Pula Film Festival awarded its main prize, the Grand Golden Arena, to Kotlovina directed by Tomislav Radic in its National Competition for Croatian film. The film also won awards for Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Sound. The film was produced by Zagreb based Korugva Film and Croatian TV and was selected from among a competion of 10 new Croatian films. The winner of the Audience Award was Koko and the Ghosts directed by Danijel Kusan and produced by Kinorama (www.kinorama.hr) and coproduced by Croatian TV. The film was the first Croatian film to receive MEDIA backing.

    The closing ceremony was held in the 2000 year old amphitheatre in the Croatian seaside town of Pula. This year for the first time the festival also held a minority co-production competition with six films competing. The jury awarded the prize for Best Director in this section to the Slovenian Croatian coproduction, Good Night Missy directed by Metod Pevec. The Croatian Audiovisual Center is one of the sponsors of the festival. (www.havc.hr) who also provided funding for Kotlovina, Koko and the Ghosts and Good Night Missy. The festival was held from 9-23 July 2011.
