Nordic Video Library Launched in Estonia

    TALLINN: The Nordic Video Library, a unique online and offline platform presenting Nordic films for educational purposes, was launched in Estonia on 25 March at Tallinn’s Baltic Film and Media School as part of the school's anniversary week.

    The pioneering platform in the region Nordic Video Library in Estonia was initiated by the Nordic Council of Minister's Office in Estonia and developed by Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF). The online content management platform BMO is available at www.blackmarketonline.eu

    "Nordic countries and Estonia have been culturally very close,” said Berth Sundström, Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia. “With the new platform our goal is to provide recent and older Nordic films for free for film students, lecturers and also Nordic language centres in Estonia. PÖFF, which had the technical platform already developed, joined the initiative and now the platform is ready to use." 

    The online and offline video library provides consists of 36 films from all Nordic countries.

    "The line-up will be updated throughout the year. In the future we would like to also involve the Nordic film archives to provide classics, as well," said Tiina Lokk from the PÖFF. “Our online market platform, BMO, has always focused on innovation that brings filmmakers and technology sector together, and thus we are excited to be able to bring the unique project of Nordic films alive,” Lokk added.

    During its anniversary week, 25-28 March, the Baltic Film and Media School is also screening student works made between March 2012 and March 2013.
