Georgian National Film Center at the 62nd Film Market at Berlinale

    {mosimage}At the 62nd Film Market at Berlinale Georgian National Film Center will be presented from the industrial angle. On February 9th a Stand of Georgian National Film Center will be opened within European Film Market (EFM). The Director of Georgian National Film Center Tamar Tatishvili and the Center's representatives Salome Sepashvili, Davit Vashadze and Mariam Kandelaki will present the Georgian Stand. The Stand will be open until February 16 and embrace over 50 industrial meetings.

    On February13, at 16.00, Georgian pavilion will host a reception (HAPPY HOUR) for foreign filmmakers. The reception will be attended by the Georgian Ambassador in Germany.

    On February 15, at 20.00, Georgian Ambassador in Germany Gabriela von Habsburg will give a reception at the Embassy for Georgian filmmakers participating in the Film festival.

    Georgian stand will host meetings with the European Film Funds, festivals, and film institutions like European Film promotion, EAVE, Maia Workshops, etc.

    Since 2012 Georgian projects will be accepted at CINE LINK, held within the film festival in Sarajevo. Tamar Tatishvili will meet the organizers of the festival and discuss Georgian participation in the competition program.

    Georgian stand at Berlinale will include presentation of a full-length feature film project "Ursus". The project will be represented by its producer Otar Shamatava, director Zaza Buadze and the German co-producer. The film is going to be Ukrainian-German-Georgian co-production. The project has obtained financing from the Ukrainian Film Development Fund.

    Within European Film Market, Nana Janelidze will present her new project and meet foreign producers (At Tbilisi International Film Festival in 2011 Nana Janelidze's film "I Wonder if There is a Theater There" became the Best Film of the Year. One of the awards of the director includes participation in European Film market with her new project).

    "Madonna" - a documentary project of a young Georgian producer Natia Guliashvili and a director Nino Gogua - will participate in Berlinale. The project was nominated for 2012 Bosch Foundation program - Co-production Prize. The authors will attend workshops to prepare for project pitching. In April, the Jury of Wiesbaden Film Festival will decide whether "Madonna" will be awarded the co-production prize - 70 000 euros for film production.

    On February 15, at18.00, Berlinale will organize presentation of the project 15 Young by Young - involving 15 films created by 15 young directors. One of the films is Salome Jashi's project, a 12-minutes' film "Swimming". The film is part of the series 15 Young by Young, created for the 20th anniversary of the disintegration of the Soviet Union. The film was created in cooperation with Avantis (Latvia), Alegria (France) and ARTE.
