A total of ten films representing the best of Baltic cinematography from the recent years will be screened free of charge in Vilnius (22-23 August), Riga (23-24 August) and Tallinn (23-24 August 2017).

“Although cooperation between filmmakers in the Baltics has improved in recent years, we still have a lot to do in order to promote Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian cinema in the neighboring countries,” said Dita Rietuma, head of the National Film Center of Latvia.

Latvia will be represented by Jānis Nord's Mother I Love You (produced by Film Studio Tanka), winner of the Grand Prix of the Berlinale’s Generation Kplus International, Jānis Vimba's Mellow Mud (Tasse Film), winner of the Berlinales Generation’s Crystal Bear, and Viestur's Kairišs Chronicles of Melany (Mistrus Media).

Estonia is screening the best domestic film of 2016, Kadri Kõusaar's Mother (Meteoriit), Zaza Urushadze's Oscar-nominated drama Tangerines (All Film, Cinema24), Margus Paju's The Secret Society of the Soup Town ( Nafta Films) and Triin Ruumet's The Days That Confused (Kinosaurus Film).

Lithuanian films in the programme are Kristijona's Vildziunas Seneca's Day (Studio Uljana Kim), Donatas Ulvydus's Emily and Alante Kavaite's The Summer of Sangaile (Fralita Films).

The organisers plan to turn Baltic Film Days into an annual event.
