Twelve Projects Compete for ScripTeast Award

    WARSAW: Twelve film projects from eight CEE countries will vie for the Krzysztof Kieślowski ScripTeast Award for the Best Eastern European Script along with a prize of 10,000 EUR to be announced at the Cannes IFF on 22 May 2013.

    The seventh edition of the year-long ScripTeast workshop holds its last session for scriptwriters at Cannes. Participants come from Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Serbia. The winning script will be selected by the Advisory Board, consisting of Sandy Lieberson, Antonio Saura, Manfred Schmidt and Dariusz Jabłoński.

    This year’s contenders are:

    1989 by András B. Vágvölgyi (Hungary)

    18 % Gray by Borislav Chouchkov, Victor Chouchkov and Zachary Karabashliev (Bulgaria)

    Black Maria by Adi Voicu (Romania)

    I Miss You by Małgorzata Piłacińska (Poland)

    Painted Bird by Václav Marhoul (Czech Republic)

    Retro Paradise by Katarína Uhrová (Slovakia)

    Soldier by Mart Kivastik (Estonia)

    The Mute by Bartosz Konopka and Przemysław Nowakowski (Poland)

    The Year of the Kuker by Nadejda Koseva and Bojan Vuletić (Bulgaria/Serbia)

    The Young Friends of the USSR Club by Stephan Komandarev and Emil Spahiyski (Bulgaria)

    Traces by Wiktoria Szymańska (Poland)

    Viking Line Story by Xandra Popescu and Stefan Constantinescu (Romania)
