Karbala by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz
photo credit: www.wfdif.com.plPolish and Kurdish sources announced that the feature film Karbala is being shot in the Kurdistan region as well as in Poland.
The film, about a battle between Iraqi and Polish soldiers which took place in Karbala in 2004 and the largest battle for Polish soldiers since WWII, is written and directed by Krzysztof Lukaszewicz and produced by VladimirNiderhaus for WFDiF with an international cast.
Filming has already taken place at Opole, Poland. The film crew visited Erbil and was expected to return there to shoot the desert scenes in the fall.
The film received funding from the Polish Film Institute.
