According to a press release, the main prize in the Visions Apart section, the Golden Claw, will be awarded "for the courage of form and content" and will have the financial value of 30,000 PLN / 7,300 EUR (18,000 PLN / 4,300 EUR for the director and 12,000 PLN / 3,000 EUR for the producer).
The Young Cinema Competition will from now on present solely feature graduation films of film school students and will award prizes of 10,000 PLN / 2,400 EUR and 5,000 PLN / 1,200 EUR. This year’s edition of the festival will also introduce a Short Films Competition with an award of 10,000 PLN / 2,400 EUR. The main competition of the festival remains unchanged. Michał Oleszczyk, the artistic director of the festival, said that the changes are required because of the evolution of the Polish cinema.
Gdynia Film Festival will be held from 14 to 19 September 2015. Call for applications will be announced in April 2015.
