Slovakia, Lithuania and Georgia Head to Baltic Bridge

By

Austria, Lithuania and Slovakia have won leading roles in the St Petersburg- and Tallinn-based Baltic Bridge East by West (B'EST‎)  feature workshop series kicking off 11 September. Gangster comedy Kaviar, the debut of Elena Tikhonova, a Russian filmmaker based in Vienna, represents Austria, while A Miracle by Lithuanian writer/director Egle Vertelyte and producer Lukas Trimonis, both UK National Film and Television School graduates, represents the Baltics.

Slovakian drama Out, which chronicles a "North-Eastern European Odyssey" from Slovakia to Estonia, is the debut feature of FAMU graduate György Kristóf. And Georgian director Merab Kokochashvili, whose filmography spans over five decades, brings drama Terzo Mondo to B'EST, which participates alongside work from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine France and the UK.

B’EST, designed for feature film projects from the European Union, the CIS countries and Georgia, is in its second edition, held by the organizers of Estonia's Baltic Event and Northern Seas Film Forum in cooperation with EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs), RFilms, Russia's CTB Film Company, with support from MEDIA Mundus.

Participants attend two workshops, 11-15 September at the St Petersburg IFF, and 26-29 November in Tallinn during Baltic Event.
