The shooting of the film took place in summer 2010 at Istanbul and on a local island called Gokceada. Winds is Selim Evci’s second film, following Two Lines which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, competed in the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival and screened in festivals including Rotterdam, Cairo and Moscow.
The movie is about Murat, a sound recording engineer living in Istanbul, who makes an unexpected connection through his recordings between a grandmother and her grandchild. The film takes a trip into the family's past and strengthens their ties. The cast includes Yusuf Nejat Buluz, Media Didem Turemen and Ruchan Caliskur.
The film received support from the Hubert Bals Fund at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2010. It is produced by Evci’s own company Evci Film Produksiyon (www.evcifilm.com).
