ZAGREB: The Croatian first-person strategic shooter game Battle of Vukovar: Rain of Steel has been pre-released on Steam by the programming collective CRO Game Devs. The game is based on true events from the 1990s Homeland War.

ZAGREB: The long animated film Cricket and Antoinette, directed by Luka Rukavina and produced by Croatia’s Diedra in coproduction with Zagrebfilm, has become the most-watched film in Croatian cinemas in 2023, with 43,334 admissions since the theatrical release on 5 January. The film has been sold to 40 territories and will be presented to potential new buyers at the Berlinale European Film Market (16 – 22 February 2023).

ZAGREB: A record number of 25 domestic films, including 17 feature films and eight documentaries, were released in Croatian cinemas in 2022, attracting 220,776 admissions, compared to 174,578 admissions in 2021, according to the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC).

ZAGREB: The Croatian Audiovisual Centre has allocated a total of 199,100 EUR for the production of three and the development of 10 new videogames. It is the second year that the Croatian national body is supporting video games in the production or development stage.

ZAGREB: Searchlight Pictures is in preproduction with the post-apocalyptic rock opera O'Dessa, written and directed by Geremy Jasper. The principal photography will start in Croatia in May 2023. The local company servicing the production has not yet been confirmed, as well as whether the project already applied for the incentives scheme.

ZAGREB: Following the international success of their first feature The Safe Place directed by Juraj Lerotić and coproduced by Croatia’s Zelena zraka in collaboration with Slovenia’s December, the Croatian production company Pipser is developing Milk Cow / Muzara, the first feature film by the reputable documentary filmmaker Miroslav Sikavica, which is set to start shooting in November 2023.
