SKOPJE: A total of 14 European films will compete for the main prizes of the 16th edition of Cinedays Festival of European Film, running 9 - 19 November in Skopje. Eight films will compete in the Official Competition and six in the CineBalkan Program.

SKOPJE: The Macedonian/Albanian/Kosovan debut film The Happiness Effect by Borjan Zafirovski began a 30-day shoot in Skopje and Ohrid on 27 October 2017.

SKOPJE: The Venezuelan debut feature Family / La Familia directed by Gustavo Rondon Cordova, which had its world premiere at Cannes Critics Week, received the Award for the Best Film at the 2nd edition of KineNova International Film Festival Skopje, which ran from 6 to 11 October 2017.

SKOPJE: Ten films from nine countries will be shown in the International Competition line up at the 2nd edition of the KineNova International Film Festival, set to take place from 6 to 11 October 2017. Serbian actor Zarko Lausevic will receive a Special Recognition for Special Contribution to Film Art.

BITOLA: The Hungarian/German coproduction Jupiter's Moon / Jupiter holdja, directed by Kornél Mundruczó and shot by Marcell Rev, was awarded Golden Camera 300 for best film at the 38th edition of the International Cinematographers’ Film Festival Manaki Brothers organised by the Macedonian Film Professional Association. The festival ran from 23 to 30 September 2017.

BITOLA: Thirteen films will run in the international feature film competition for the Golden, Silver and Bronze Camera 300 awards at the 38th edition of the International Cinematographers’ Film Festival Manaki Brothers, which will kick off in Bitola, Macedonia on 23 September 2017. The Bulgarian/German/Macedonian coproduction Directions / Posoki by Stefan Komandarev will open the festival.

SKOPJE: Polish documentary 21 x New York / 21 x Nowy Jork by Piotr Stasik won the Onion Award for Best Film in the main competition of the 8th edition of Makedox. The festival took place from 19 to 25 August 2017.

SKOPJE: A total of 68 films will compete in the 8th edition of Makedox Creative Documentary Film Festival running from 19 to 25 August 2017. The Macedonian production Avec l`amour / So ljubov directed by Ilija Cvetkovski will open the open-air festival held in KurshumliAn, the caravanserai located in the Old Town of Skopje.

SKOPJE: Macedonian TV revenues reached in 2016 their lowest point in the last five years. Commercial and public broadcasters generated total revenues of approximately 25 m EUR / 1,540,190,000 MKD, representing a drop of 50% compared to 2015.

SKOPJE: Macedonian Government named Gorjan Tozija acting director of the Macedonian Film Agency on 10 August 2017. He will be replacing Mimi Gjorgoska Ilievska, who was appointed in November 2015.
