BELGRADE: The shooting of the Serbian feature war drama Kosare / Košare is scheduled to commence by 1 July 2020. The film, supported by Film Center Serbia, marks the feature debut for the helmer Balša Đogo.

BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia announced the recipients of its latest round of grants on 25 June 2020. The grants were awarded in two separate categories: debut feature films and student final films.

BELGRADE: Heretic Outreach, the sales agent based in Athens, has acquired The Users / Korisnici, Ivan Ikić’s sophomore feature, a coproduction of Serbia, Slovenia, The Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina and France.

BELGRADE: The Match Factory has sold Srdan Golubović’s latest feature Father / Otac to China (TV airing rights), the UK, Ireland, North Africa, Middle East, Turkey, Greece, and Lithuania.

BELGRADE: Truckers 3 / Kamiondžije III is the first major Serbian TV show/series to start shooting after the ending of the COVID-19 state of emergency in the country. The shooting has begun in the town of Ub and its vicinity and the first of the 20 episodes is expected to air on the First Programme of the Radio Television of Serbia / RTS by the end of 2020.

BELGRADE: Cinemas in Serbia will re-open in July, after three months of inactivity. Starting on 1 July 2020 cinemas in all towns and cities in Serbia will host a film series Back to the Cinema / Povratak u bioskop, initiated by the sections of distributors and screeners within the Group for Cinematography, and supported and aided by Film Center Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

BELGRADE: The 27th edition of the European Film Festival Palić will take place 8 – 14 August 2020, two weeks after its traditional July scheduling. Palić is the first Serbian festival to confirm it will be held since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.

BELGRADE: Radivoje Andrić is preparing to shoot How I Learned to Fly / Leto kad sam naučila da letim at the end of the summer. The Serbian/Croatian/Bulgarian coproduction received a 150,000 EUR grant from the Eurimages board.

BELGRADE: Cinesseum is the first premium streaming service allowing people around the world to legally watch the latest Serbian films at the same time or shortly after they have been shown in theatres. Most of the films have English subtitles.

BELGRADE: London based Head Gear Films has announced plans to make a large investment in productions shot in Serbia. The investment facility will be operated in partnership with the Belgrade-based production outfit Balkanic Media, which was founded by filmmaker Jonathan English together with Los Angeles-based producer James Gibb.
