WARSAW: Silver Bear winner Małgorzata Szumowska’s new drama Mug is currently in final postproduction and will have its international premiere in the Competition of the 68th Berlin International Film Festival (15-25 February 2018).
TORUŃ: The Camerimage International Film Festival will move from Bydgoszcz to Toruń by 2022, as a special Camerimage Festival Congress Center will be built to serve as a permanent location for the Camerimage IFF, as well as a stand-alone cultural institution funded by the Ministry of Culture.
WARSAW: Wild Roses by Anna Jadowska won the Golden Tapes award for best domestic film released in Polish cinemas in 2017. Golden Tapes are awarded by the Polish section of FIPRESCI and the members of the Polish Filmmakers Association.
WARSAW: Polish Animoon Studio and Chinese Animex Animation finalised the agreement on the coproduction of the second season of the Polish animated series Hug Me. This is the first animated coproduction between the two countries.
WARSAW: The romantic comedy Letters to Santa 3 directed by Tomasz Konecki is a major success not only in Poland, where it is topping the box office, but also abroad. The film is in UK's top ten and it was also released in over ten countries including the US, Germany, Sweden and Austria.
WARSAW: Radosław Śmigulski has been appointed Director of the Polish Film Institute by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
WARSAW: Ira Carpelan’s and Jakub Wronski’s animated film Moomins and the Winter Wonderland opened on 500 Scandinavian screens on 1 December 2017. Other Polish productions supported by the Polish Film Institute, such as Loving Vincent and Spoor, are also generating a growing interest in foreign territories.
WARSAW: Oscar nominated Polish filmmaker Bartosz Konopka has just finished shooting The Mute, a Polish/Belgian coproduction starring Krzysztof Pieczyński and Karol Bernacki.
WARSAW: The Polish Film Institute chose nine new feature films and nine animated projects to co-finance in the 3rd funding session of 2017, including new projects from Leszek Dawid, Małgorzata Szumowska and Dariusz Jabłoński.
WARSAW: Michał Kwieciński is currently shooting the romantic comedy Love Is Everything, a coproduction between TVN and Akson Studio. Michał Kwieciński is a renowned Polish producer and director and the owner of Akson Studio, one of the biggest production companies in Poland.
