WARSAW: Polish distribution company NEXT FILM is branching out with the production of its second feature film, Successful Woman, a romantic comedy directed by Robert Wichrowski.
WARSAW: Aleksander Pietrzak is working on his feature debut, comedy Juliusz produced by Giant Films, makers of Polish 2016 box office hit Planet Single by Slovenian director Mitja Okorn (Gigant Films in coproduction with TVN).
WARSAW: Władysław Pasikowski is directing the third part of the Pitbull crime trilogy after Patryk Vega decided not to direct the last installment of his box office hit project.
WARSAW: The Polish Film Institute chose four animated and youth films to support in the third funding session of 2017.
WARSAW: The Polish Ministry of Culture announced the results of a special competition held to find new and interesting feature film projects about Polish history. The winning screenwriters received 132,922 EUR / 565,000 PLN toward script development and awards.
GDYNIA: Maciej Sobieszczański’s debut feature The Reconciliation will be showcased in the main competition of the 42nd Gdynia Film Festival (18-23 September 2017). The film is a love story set in Silesia at the beginning of 1945.
WARSAW: Krzysztof Lang is currently in postproduction with Sleep Darling / Ach śpij kochanie, a crime drama inspired by one of the most notorious Polish serial killers.
WARSAW: The new drama by Oscar-winning Polish director Paweł Pawlikowski Cold War has been acquired by Amazon Studios. The film is set in Poland of the 50s and 60s. Pawlikowski told FNE that the film tells the story of two young people and their difficult love in those times.
WARSAW: Adrian Panek is currently shooting his second feature film Werewolf, set in the aftermath of WWII. This Polish/Dutch/German coproduction is scheduled to be released in 2018.
RZESZÓW: The Subcarpathian Regional Film Fund chose four new projects to support with a total of 140,358 EUR / 600,000 PLN. Among these productions, which will promote the region and its film professionals, are Krzysztof Zanussi's and Paweł Pawlikowski’s new projects.
