SOFIA: The Sofia-based National Palace of Culture proclaimed Best Congress Centre in the World by the International Organization of Congress Centres in 2005 has started financing films.
SOFIA: Director Dimitar Kozev-Shosho started the shooting of his second feature My Father, My Mother, My Sister on 29 June 2015. The theatrical distribution is planned for 2016.
SOFIA: In his new feature, Losers, the famous actor/director/writer Ivailo Hristov follows a teenage group of friends from a small town on the eve of the visit of some famous pop musicians.
SOFIA: Feature film project Dora, co-written by Milko Lazarov and Simeon Ventislavov and produced by Sofia based Red Carpet was chosen as “best project“ by the International Project Discovery Forum, the main industry programme of the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival. Earlier in this year,the same writing team won the prestigious Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast award in Cannes with their project Nanook, also produced by Red Carpet.
SOFIA: Bulgarian director Antoniy Donchev is in postproduction with his first feature film The Woman of My Life coproduced by Bulgarian Ars, Macedonia’s KT Film & Media, Romania’s Peter Film Production, Hawena Films and the Kurdistan Regional Government, Iraq with the support of the Bulgarian National Film Center.
The Bulgarian National Film Center is backing five market screenings at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, including two international coproductions.
SOFIA: Bulgarian director/scriptwriter Ivan Cherkelov is in postproduction with Family Relics, a drama unfolding through three intertwined subplots, which is set to be released at the end of 2015.
SOFIA: Film director and manager Pavel Vasev was appointed as acting director of the Bulgarian Film Center on 10 March 2015. He is replacing acting director Georgy Cholakov, who was leading the national institution for the last year.
SOFIA: As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Bulgarian cinema in 2015, Bulgarian National Television has opened a public vote for Best Bulgarian Film among 100 titles. The voting started on 1 March and will close on 18 March 2015.
SOFIA: The first season of a French futuristic political series Section Zero by the famous TV director Olivier Marchal, has started shooting in Sofia. It is the most expensive French TV series ever made.
