Georgian National Film Center (www.gnfc.ge) hosted representatives of Sarajevo Film Festival is Tbilisi in October to strengthen ties between with Georgian filmmakers. The delegation from Savajevo consisted of: The Festival Director, Mirsad Purivatra, Head of the Industry Section, Jovan Marjanovic and Industry Projects Manager- Ena Dozo.
The aim of the visit was to introduce Georgian filmmakers to the programs of Sarajevo Film Festival and consult the Georgian side on the matter of future cooperation, as, since 2012, the industry
program of Sarajevo Film Festival is officially open for Georgian participants.
As a result of the efforts from GNFC, in 2013 the competition section of the Festival will also be open for Georgian participants. Representatives of the Georgian film industry attended a presentation of the Festival’s programmes and had individual meetings with the guests from Sarajevo.
According to the agreement reached between GNFC and Sarajevo Film Festival in 2011, in 2012 all the industry programmes of the Festival have become open for the potential Georgian participants. Applications from Georgia may be sent to programs like „CineLink“, “Sarajevo Talent Campus” and “Work in Progress”. For the first time, a Georgian producer took part in the industrial section “CineLink” within the 18th film festival in Sarajevo.
Tinatin Kajrishvili’s feature film project “The Brides” was among the eight participating projects. Also for the first time, four young Georgian filmmakers have been selected for participation in “Sarajevo Talent Campus”. They are: Nikoloz Mdivani, Nino Jincharadze, Papuna Mosidze and Giorgi Tskvitinidze.
Last year Georgian National Film Center was officially represented at the 17th Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Among special guests were: GNFC Director Tamar Tatishvili, Film Exports and Distribution Manager Keti Danelia and young Georgian filmmakers.
In 2011 the management of Sarajevo Film Festival became interested in current film processes and discussed the issue of enlisting Georgia among the participating countries.
