The competition includes a Slovenian-Italian coproduction, Zoran, My Nephew the Idiot directed by Matteo Oleotto. The comedy set on the border of the two countries won the Audience Award when it screened in the Venice Critics’ Week.

A Stranger directed by Bobo Jelčić is a Bosnian/Croatian coproduction set in ethnically divided Mostar. The film premiered at the Berlinale.

The remaining films in the main competition Panorama come from Austria (Forever Not Alone, dir. Monja Art, Caroline Bobek), Russia (Major, dir. Jurij Bikov), and Argentina (El ultimo Elvis, dir. Armando Bo), or are European coproductions: Call Girl (Sweden/Norway/Finland/Ireland, dir. Mikael Marcimain), Miele (Italy/France, dir. Valeria Golino), Salvo (Italy/France, dir. Fabio Grassadonia, Antonio Piazza), Das merkwürdige Kätzchen (Germany, dir. Ramon Zürcher), and Watchtower (Germany/Turkey/France, dir. Pelin Esmer).

The festival will present a tribute to Croatian director Lordan Zafranović with screening of seven full-length films and a selection of his short films, and the five-film country focus spotlight will be on Austrian cinema.
