BELGRADE: The jury of FEST Forward has chosen and announced the winners of this year's edition after three intensive days of the industry programme, which is an integral part of the ongoing Belgrade’s FEST.
BELGRADE: FEST Forward is an international coproduction market and networking platform focusing on empowering European coproductions in the Balkan region. The new edition of the market is running, from 27 February to 1 March, during the 50the edition FEST, in the capital of Serbia.
BELGRADE: This year's International Film Festival – FEST is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and will be held from 25 February to 6 March at the Belgrade Festivals Centre. This edition's slogan New Brave World is a word play relating to the slogan of the first FEST held in 1971, which was Brave New World.
BELGRADE: Serbian hitmaker Radivoje Andrić’s fourth feature How I Learned to Fly / Leto kada sam naučila da letim, which premiered nationally on 16 February in Belgrade’s Kombank Hall / Kombank dvoranaKombank dvorana, racked up 27,422 admissions over the weekend of cinema distribution in Serbia, grossing 97,287 EUR / 11,447,132 RSD, significantly outperforming Hollywood features Uncharted, Death on the Nile, Marry Me, and becoming another domestic blockbuster.
PRODUCTION: Serbian Director Maja Miloš In Production With Sophomore Feature Rift in the Ice
Serbia 21-02-2022BELGRADE: Serbian director Maja Miloš has recently started the production of her sophomore feature titled Rift in the Ice / Pukotina u ledu, envisioned as a contemporary fairytale exploring women's integrity and sexuality in our harsh reality. The film is a Serbian/Slovenian/Croatian/Dutch/Italian/Montenegrin coproduction.
BELGRADE: The Athens-based Heretic company has obtained world sales rights for the Serbian feature Working Class Heroes / Heroji radničke klase directed by Miloš Pušić, ahead of its world premiere within the Panorama segment of the upcoming edition of the Berlin Film Festival.
BELGRADE: Ognjen Janković’s debut feature, a sport and crime drama Golden Boy / Zlatni dečko, topped the Serbian box office charts in January 2022. The film has racked up 118,000 admissions (129,109 including Bosnia and Herzegovina) since its Belgrade premiere on 11 January and the formal start of its cinema distribution on 13 January, grossing circa 437,000 EUR / 51,373,018 RSD. During the last weekend it went on leaving Hollywood blockbusters such as Spiderman: No Way Home, Red Clifford and Scream 5 far behind.
BELGRADE: The Turkish/German/Serbian coproduction feature Suddenly, to be directed by Melisa Fatma Önel Tecimen, received a grant of 85,000 EUR from Eurimages in December 2021.
PRODUCTION: Mirjana Karanović’s Sophomore Feature Mother Mara Wins Eurimages Coproduction Grant
Serbia 14-12-2021BELGRADE: The popular and esteemed Serbian actress Mirjana Karanović is developing her second feature film Mother Mara / Majka Mara. The project has recently received support of 170,000 EUR from Eurimages. Mirjana Karanović will star in this coproduction between Serbia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland.
BELGRADE: Omar El Zohairy’s feature Feathers won the Grand Prix at the 27th edition of the Author's Film Festival, which was officially closed in Belgrade’s Kombank Hall on 3 December 2021.
