BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech comedy Invalid by Jonáš Karásek won in seven categories (from 13 nominations) including Best Feature Film, Best Director and Best Leading Actor, and it also received the Audience Award at the Sun in a Net ceremony held at the Slovak Radio Building in Bratislava on 26 April 2024.
BRATISLAVA: Thirty Slovak films (11 features, 13 documentaries and six animated films) will be screened at the 10th edition of the Slovak Film Week, the annual showcase of domestic titles, which is taking place in Bratislava 15 - 21 April 2024.

Slovakia 27-03-2024BRATISLAVA: The acclaimed Slovak director Robert Kirchhoff is finishing production on the Slovak/Czech documentary Conspiracy of Silence / Konšpirácia ticha, which follows the story of Alfréd Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba, two Slovak Jews who escaped from Auschwitz in April 1944 and wrote a report about the gas chambers.
FNE at Febiofest Bratislava 2024: Work in Progress Projects Showcased at Bratislava Industry Days
Slovakia 21-03-2024BRATISLAVA: Ten projects were showcased at the Works in Progress session during Bratislava Industry Days at the 31st International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava (13 – 19 March 2024).
BRATISLAVA: Polish short film Echo by Emi Buchwald was awarded Best Film in the Short Films section, while the Hungarian/Slovak drama Explanation for Everything / Magyarázat mindenre by Gábor Reisz was awarded Best Film in the Long Films section of the In the Heart of Europe Competition at the 31st edition of the International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava (13 – 19 March 2024).
BRATISLAVA: The In the Heart of Europe competition section of the 31st International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava will add for the second time a long films' competition with 10 fiction, animated, documentary and experimental films, in addition to the usual 20 short films from neighbouring countries. The festival will take place 13 – 19 March 2024.
BOX OFFICE: Slovakia Saw Increased Admissions and Domestic Film in Top Three in 2023
Slovakia 06-03-2024BRATISLAVA: The domestic comedy Invalid by Jonáš Karásek had the third best admissions in Slovak cinemas in 2023, where total admissions increased by 15.74 %. Also, admissions to domestic films increased from 552,409 in 2022 to 718,968 in 2023, according to the Union of the Slovak Distributors.
BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech comedy Invalid by Jonáš Karásek together with the Slovak/Czech historical drama The Chambermaid directed by Mariana Čengel Solčanská lead the 13th Sun in a Net awards nominations with 13 nods each, followed by Slovak/Czech We Have Never Been Modern / Úsvit by Matěj Chlupáček with six nominations. The awards will be announced on 26 April 2024.

Slovakia 26-02-2024BRATISLAVA: Successful Slovak documentary filmmakers Lucia Kašová, Barbora Sliepková and Viera Čákanyová are in mid-production with Wasteland Chronicles / Zóny nikoho, a dystopian documentary exploring three Slovak ecological disasters: the tar dump in the village of Predajná and the pollution caused by chemical factories on the eastern border of Slovakia and in Bratislava.
BRATISLAVA: Jan Sebechlebský has just started shooting the historical family road film Secret Delivery / Tichá pošta. The film is a production between Czech´s 8Heads Productions and Slovak´s ARINA FILM, in coproduction with the Czech Television, the Radio and Television Slovakia, Barrandov Studio and Moss & Roy.
