BUDAPEST: The filming of Borbála Nagy's debut feature The Origin of the World / A világ eredete started recently and will have a total of 30 shooting days in Hungary, Germany and France.

BUDAPEST: The filming of Apex directed by Joseph Kosinski has continued shooting in Hungary despite the SAG-AFTRA strike.

BUDAPEST: Brad Pitt will visit Hungary in July 2023 for the shooting of Apex directed by Joseph Kosinski, which will be serviced in Hungary by Mid Atlantic Films and will benefit from the 30% tax rebate system.

BUDAPEST: Blockade / Blokád directed by Ádám Tősér was the biggest winner at the Hungarian Motion Picture Awards, which were announced in 24 categories at the closing ceremony of the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival, held at the Petőfi Theater in Veszprém on 10 June 2023. The biographical drama about Prime Minister József Antall won seven awards out of 15 nominations.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian Motion Picture Festival organised by the National Film Institute - Hungary and the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme, is currently screening almost 100 Hungarian films at nine locations in Veszprém, Balatonfüred and Balatonalmádi. The Hungarian Motion Picture Awards will be announced on 10 June 2023.

BUDAPEST: Our Blossom, Blockade, Six Weeks, Larry and Heights and Depths compete for the Best Hungarian Feature Film Award at the Hungarian Motion Picture Awards. The awards ceremony will take place on 10 June 2023 at the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival, which is jointly organised by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI) and the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 – European Capital of Culture programme.

BUDAPEST: Benedict Cumberbatch is starring in a six-part limited series called Eric, created by Abi Morgan. The Netflix production is currently shooting in Hungary with local company Mid Atlantic Films servicing, and it is benefiting from the Hungarian tax incentives scheme.

BUDAPEST: Brady Corbet is currently shooting The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Isaach De Bankolé, Stacy Martin and Alessandro Nivola, in Hungary. The film is coproduced by Viktória Petrányi through Proton Cinema and it will be edited by Hungarian Dávid Jancsó.

BUDAPEST: Total admissions increased from 6.2 m in 2021 to 10.1 m in 2022, and the total gross increased from 24.9 m EUR / 9.7 billion HUF to 44.4 m EUR / 17.6 billion HUF, according the Hungary’s Association of Film Distributors and the Hungarian National Film Office.

BUDAPEST: The 9th edition of Budapest International Documentary Festival will screen 60 films between 21 and 29 January 2023. In addition to Budapest, there will be screenings in ten other Hungarian cities.
