BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech coproduction General / Generál by Jiří Chlumský, which began production in 2018, is still shooting. The historical drama following the life of Milan Rastislav Štefánik, a general and important politician of the early 20th century, changed the director twice. It was originally directed by Mariana Čengel Solčanská, followed by Jérôme Cornuau, and finally Jiří Chlumský.

BRATISLAVA: Cinemas in Slovak regions with a lower COVID-19 rate are allowed to reopen under specific conditions on 17 May 2021, but it is expected that cinema operators will open one or two weeks after that date

BRATISLAVA: Avalanche of Love / Láska hory prenáša, the debut feature by young Czech director Jakub Machala, who has been awarded for his commercials, music videos and TV series, is currently in postproduction. This Slovak/Czech romantic comedy is set to be released in February 2022.

BRATISLAVA: Soňa Gyárfáš Lutherová’s first long documentary Happy Man / Šťastný človek is entering the last stage of production. This Slovak/Czech film, also coproduced by HBO Europe, captures the intimate image of a person in transition.

KOŠICE: The 28th edition of Art Film Fest Košice, which was cancelled in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, will take place in a more intimate form than usual, but still physically from 23 to 27 June 2021. An unusual number of Slovak titles will pre-premiere exclusively in the traditional programme section Slovak season.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Matej Mináč is in the final development stage with a comedy based on his meeting with Federico Fellini in 1989. Never Give Up / Nikdy sa nevzdaj is so far a Slovak/Czech coproduction that will possibly involve an Italian coproducer.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Peter Bebjak is currently in production with the eponymous TV adaptation of the classic of Slovak literature, Jozef Mak by Jozef Cíger Hronský. The film is produced by RTVS in coproduction with D.N.A.

BRATISLAVA: Flood / Potopa, a Slovak work in progress directed by Martin Gonda, won the main prize at the 6th edition of the IFF Febiofest Bratislava Industry Days, which took place online 29 March 2021. A special mention went to the short experimental documentary Strigov by Barbora Berezňáková, which is now in post-production.

BRATISLAVA: The 6th edition of the IFF Febiofest Bratislava Industry Days will present 11 new Slovak projects in an online format on 29 March 2021.

BRATISLAVA: The 28th IFF Febiofest Bratislava, which was planned for 24 - 30 March 2021, will not take place in its traditional form.
