BELGRADE: Goran Marković, one of the most renowned Serbian film directors, will screen his new feature film Delirium Tremens in the Serbian film programme of FEST 2019 (22 February – 3 March 2019), the most popular film festival in Serbia. This is the film's world premiere.
BELGRADE: Dragan Marinković’s fifth feature Leeches / Pijavice will have its national premiere in the Serbian film programme of FEST 2019, the most popular film festival in Serbia. The film is a Serbian/Croatian/Macedonian coproduction.
BELGRADE: Miloš Avramović’s sophomore feature South Wind has been sold in Japan, France and China. This action thriller had nearly 600,000 admissions in Serbia and it was showcased in the 2019 Berlinale’s European Film Market.
BELGRADE: Cercamon has picked up Miroslav Terzić’s sophomore feature Stiches / Šavovi, which will have its world premiere in the Panorama section of 69th Berlinale on 11 February 2019. The film is a Serbian/Slovenian/Croatian/Bosnian coproduction.
BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia (FCS), EWA (European Women’s Audiovisual Network) and FEST FORWARD, the industry segment of FEST 2019, have announced six upcoming projects officially selected to take part in this year’s edition of the “FEST Forward Women in Film” industry programme taking place on 1 and 2 March 2019. Another six domestic film projects were selected for the National Selection segment of FEST Forward 2019.
Film Center Serbia maintained its regular pattern of financial support contests for the third year in a row and at the end of 2018 the Goverment granted a total of 7,879,383 EUR / 933,180,000 RSD.
BELGRADE: The Serbian Ministry of Economy has decided to increase the total budget available for incentives from 6,752,421 EUR / 800 m RSD in 2018 to 7.5 m EUR / 900 m RSD in 2019, while the Ministry of Culture and Information and Film Center Serbia will increase the national funding for domestic films and coproductions to 9 m EUR, as compared to 7,879,811 EUR in 2018.
BELGRADE: The rom-com/road movie Taxi Blues topped the Serbian box office charts last weekend. The debut feature by Miroslav Stamatov racked 47,411 admissions and 158,534 EUR / 18,774,122 RSD gross in the first four days of theatrical distribution.
BELGRADE: The acclaimed Serbian director Goran Radovanović is in final stages of production with The Makavejev Case or Trial in a Movie Theater, a documentary on the revered Yugoslav and Serbian film author Dušan Makavejev. The film is expected to be released in the first half of 2019.
MEĆAVNIK: Twenty one short films were selected for the Competition Programme of the 12th edition of the Kustendorf Film and Music Festival, taking place in Mećavnik from 11 to 16 January 2019. The festival initiated by Emir Kusturica also screened his latest film, El Pepe, a Life Supreme.
