BELGRADE: Total admissions in Serbia increased considerably, from 3,754,368 in 2017 to 4,193,755 in 2018, mostly due to the blockbusters South Wind / Južni vetar by Miloš Avramović, distributed by Art Vista with 605,010 admissions, and King Petar / Kralj Petar Prvi by Petar Ristovski, distributed by MCF – Megacom Film with 168,447 admissions. Both films are still in cinema distribution.
BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia distributed 1,445,633 EUR / 171,125,000 RSD in the latest round of grants for 2018, including grants for the production of nine minority coproductions (seven feature films, one long documentary and one short fiction film). New projects by Goran Paskaljević, Dimitris Kаnelopulos and Vinko Moderndorfer received funding.
BELGRADE: Stefan Arsenijević started shooting his long-awaited new feature Strahinja as a coproduction between Serbia, France, Luxembourg and Bulgaria in early November 2018. His debut feature Love and Other Crimes / Ljubav i drugi zločini, produced by Art & Popcorn, premiered in Berlin Film Festival's official programme in 2008.
BELGRADE: Miloš Avramović’s feature South Wind / Južni vetar has reached nearly 150,000 admissions in its first seven days of release in Serbia, making it the best opening of a domestic film in Serbia in the last 15 years.
PRODUCTION: The Film Fund of Bosnia and Herzegovina Supports Mirjana Karanović’s Mara
Serbia 25-10-2018BELGRADE: The Film Fund of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the most recent fund to provide support for Mirjana Karanović’s fiction feature Mara, with a grant of 55,000 KM / 28,121 EUR. The film is planned as a coproduction between Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro.
BELGRADE: Labour Day / Prvi maj, Mladen Đorđević’s new feature film project, has received a 40,000 EUR grant from the Greek Film Centre, making it yet another Serbian/Greek coproduction.
BELGRADE: Srđan Dragojević’s new feature film Heavens Above / Nebesa, now in preproduction, got a funding boost with a new minority coproduction grant from Film Center Montenegro.
BELGRADE: Award-winning Serbian director Srdan Golubović started shooting his third feature film Father / Otac on 24 September 2018. The project is a coproduction between Serbia, Croatia, France, Germany, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
BELGRADE: The first season of the eight episode Serbian TV series Turbo is currently in development. The project created by Milica Živanović, Matthias Nerlich and Milan Stojanović won the British platform C21’s award at the MIDPOINT section of Sarajevo Film Festival’s CineLink Drama 2018.

Serbia 18-09-2018ZAGREB: The zombie comedy The Last Serb in Croatia / Posljednji Srbin u Hrvatskoj has entered the postproduction phase. Predrag Ličina’s debut feature is a Croatian/Serbian coproduction between Kinorama and Art & Popcorn.
